To see new posts on Instagram, some users have to go back through all of the posts of a certain person and re-watch all of their previous posts before they can see new ones. Since yesterday, multiple Verge staff members and Reddit users have been experiencing the same problem.
"We're aware that some individuals are experiencing problems using Instagram Stories," Meta spokeswoman Christine Pai said in an email to The Verge. He said that Instagram was "working hard to get everything back on track," and apologized for any disruption caused.
The problem seems to be that Instagram doesn't remember where you left off while you're looking at someone else's stories. ' So, if a buddy has five stories up and I look at four of them before swiping away, the next time I touch on their symbol, I should see the fifth story they've put up. When I click to see the story, Instagram forces me to rewind through the previous four I've already watched. In addition, the issue arises when a user writes a new tale.
As of this writing, it's not clear how many people have been impacted. Instagram isn't trending like I'd imagine it to be if a key aspect of the app was broken for everyone, but many users on Twitter are complaining that they have to rematch stories.
